Catellani & Smith was born almost by chance in 1989. Founder Enzo Catellani created his first lamps without thinking about selling them. Success arrived suddenly, and what began as an experiment became one of Italy’s most distinctive lighting brands. Even the name carries a story. “Smith” was not a designer but the name of Enzo’s horse. It was a playful choice that added irony and character, qualities still present in Catellani & Smith today.
