Munari 6 Pendant Light is a modular chandelier with six light sources, inspired by the playful and experimental spirit of Bruno Munari. Designed as a constellation of orbiting points of light, it transforms illumination into an interactive architectural composition. Supplied as a flat-pack system, it invites creativity through assembly, echoing Munari’s iconic educational games.

Munari 6 Pendant Light pays homage to Italian painter, designer and Op Art pioneer Bruno Munari (1907–1998), whose work consistently blurred the boundaries between art, design and play. From his Useless Machines and Illegible Books to his celebrated educational objects such as the Prelibri, Munari championed curiosity, movement and hands-on creativity. These ideas directly inspired the Munari lighting system, developed by German designer Lutz Pankow in collaboration with DCWéditions.
Conceived as a cosmic Spirograph, the Munari 6 arranges six satellite-like points of light along a conductive supporting structure, forming a constellation of luminous “atoms” suspended in space and orbiting across a span of up to five metres. Delivered in a flat cardboard box with illustrated assembly instructions, the installation process clearly references Munari’s construction games—transforming setup into an act of discovery. The result is a sculptural, modular chandelier that balances intellectual playfulness with striking architectural presence.
