Munari 8 Pendant Light is a modular chandelier with eight light sources, inspired by the playful, experimental spirit of Bruno Munari. Designed as a system of orbiting points of light, it combines artistic heritage with architectural presence. Supplied as a flat-pack assembly, it transforms installation into a creative act, echoing Munari’s iconic educational games.

Munari 8 Pendant Light pays homage to painter, designer and Op Art pioneer Bruno Munari (1907–1998), whose work blurred the boundaries between art, design and play. Best known for his Useless Machines, Prelibri and iconic educational objects, Munari believed creativity should be exploratory and intuitive. This philosophy directly informs the Munari lighting system, developed by German designer Lutz Pankow in collaboration with DCWéditions.
Conceived as a cosmic Spirograph, the chandelier is composed of eight satellite-like points of light orbiting around a conductive supporting structure, forming a constellation of luminous “atoms” suspended in space. Delivered in a flat cardboard box with illustrated assembly instructions, the installation process mirrors Munari’s celebrated construction games—turning setup into a moment of discovery. The result is a sculptural, modular chandelier that balances intellectual playfulness with striking architectural impact.
