Metal work plays a central role in the brand’s identity. In Denmark’s countryside, talented makers use both traditional tools and modern machines to craft designs such as the aluminium Workshop Lamp and the Petite Machine lamp with brass details. In Austria, the Knit-Wit and Flying lamps highlight innovation through 3D knitting. Partnering with Kobleder, a third-generation knitting company, Made by Hand developed unique lamps that combine sustainability with poetic light diffusion.
Beyond lighting, Made by Hand also explores textiles. The NABLA collection of rugs, created with Milan’s Golran, blends bamboo silk and New Zealand wool. Each rug undergoes a meticulous dyeing and weaving process, producing a gradient effect that highlights craftsmanship and material quality.
Glass is another key material. The PePo lamp, inspired by organic pumpkin forms, is mouthblown to showcase the beauty of transparency and light. Its playful design combines tradition with modern appeal, making it a versatile addition to interiors. Rice paper also features prominently in the Papier collection. Handmade using delicate techniques, these lamps appear as floating sculptures, distributing light with elegance and warmth.
