Secto Design
Secto Design Lighting was founded on a genuine need, a respect for wood, and skilled craftsmanship. The story began in 1995, when founder Tuula Jusélius met designer Seppo Koho. Both shared a passion for Scandinavian design, woodworking, and the natural beauty of Northern wood. Their collaboration first focused on furniture, but clients soon asked for lamps to match. This led to the creation of the Secto 4200 pendant, a wooden conical lamp that became the cornerstone of the entire Secto Design Lighting collection.
What started as a small workshop in Heinola has since grown into an international brand. Today, Secto Design exports 95% of its production to over 80 countries. With business entities in France, Denmark, Sweden, and the USA, the company has built a strong global presence while remaining family-owned. Since 2017, the production facility Sectomo has been fully owned by Secto Design and is now run by Joakim Jusélius, representing the second generation.
The originality of the Secto 4200 pendant revolutionised the lighting market. Producing wooden lamps on a large scale while preserving artisanal quality was a challenge, but it defined the brand’s philosophy. Each Secto Design lamp combines modern innovation with the hand-crafted touch of skilled Finnish artisans. The current collection includes 32 models, all CE-marked, with 19 also ETL/CETL certified.
Secto Design is also committed to protecting originality and fighting piracy. The unique wooden structure of its lamps has inspired imitations, but the company actively defends its intellectual property rights. Each genuine product carries a hologram sticker, ensuring authenticity. As a member of Love Original and Be Original Americas, Secto Design promotes creative integrity and safeguards the value of authentic design.
All Secto Design Lighting products are crafted from certified, premium birch veneer. The material is form-pressed, cut, sanded, and assembled with precision, before passing rigorous quality checks. Finishes include natural birch, white or black laminate, and waxed walnut veneer, with bespoke options available for projects.
